I have been rather silent here over the past few months.
Which means I have been busy elsewhere.
Trying to figure out what I want to do next, where I want to go, and how to get there.
Of course, as they say, life is what happens when you are busy making plans, so my plans may not necessarily play out as I drew them. But at least they are there, like a general blueprint, a skeleton structure on which to build.
More about that later in the year, though, if things work out.
In the meantime, I have also been writing, although I cannot yet say what. Not at ‘Here and Now: In the Valley of Yearning’, though.
I can hear your disappointed gasps :))) rest assured, the novel is still in the works and will be resumed soon. Unless my plans work out, which means I will be very busy until spring/summer next year and time for writing may be even more reduced than now. Or maybe not. Given that during winter there are generally less things to do, places to be, people to see…?
Which brings me to other things I’ve been doing lately that are not writing: traveling, hiking, meeting people. All good, all necessary.
And resting. Also good and necessary. Although I need to kick myself into taking time off – especially when I look at all the things I should be doing…
I did something fun too: a summer ‘romantic’ photoshoot. It was very hot and sweaty, but we managed it. I like the results. The colour of the dress is perfect and it makes me look like the lady of the manor.
With this occasion I realised I like doing photoshoots. I really should have insisted on becoming a photomodel when I was younger :))
There are various other projects in the works – such as that lizard onesie I have to turn into a phoenix by February. It’s for skiing. Yep, you read that right. There’s this lovely group of people I go skiing with once a year, and on one day we all don our animal onesies over our ski gear and hit the slopes like a colourful herd of crazy diversity. We even have a couple of unicorns.
Then there’s a short story collection I’d like to write.
And a quicker, easier, pulp-like novel – I’ve always wanted to write one of those.
And to try my hand at some travel writing. Or maybe stories based on the various places I have been to.
I’d also like to try some audio recording. First I’d like to make recordings of all my posts, so they can be listened to. I know there’s automation for that, but have you ever listened to a blog post or article read by an artificial voice? I have. It’s a real turn-off.
Then maybe a podcast. Although I have no idea what I would talk about. I’m sure I will come up with an idea for a series of something or other at some point, though.
There are also lots of books on my to-read list, both fiction and non-fiction. Many of which I have to borrow from various libraries. I’ve embarked on a steady reading programme to try and read all these library books by the end of December.
There are DVDs and Blu Rays to borrow from said libraries by that time as well – lots of hard-to-find movies that I really want to watch.
Besides what I have on my extremely long Netflix, Prime and Disney lists.
So there you go.
That’s what I’ve been busy doing these past few months. Besides work, the occasional course or workshop, and household chores such as doing the laundry, cleaning the apartment and trying to declutter.
Yes, trying. I’m not very good at it, especially when it comes to books and clothes.
And crafting stuff.
But I am trying.
There will be a post about that later.
As well as, I hope, about the books I have been reading lately.
In the meantime, take care and stay hydrated.
